This new open access paper from researchers in Bri This new open access paper from researchers in Bristol and Oxford, published in the British Medical Journal, focuses on inequality of funding for fertility treatment for MRKH patients. The paper is entitled: What is the access to NHS fertility treatments for women with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome across England? A freedom of information study. It is an open access study and is available for anyone to read at this link - https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/15/10/e102664 This very interesting research notes that "only 17% of ICBs treat women with MRKH like any other woman applying for NHS fertility treatment". An ICB or Integrated Care Board is a component of the UK's NHS and are responsible for the health services in their local population. There are 42 in the UK. This statistic supports the sad reality that many of us face in the UK where fertility preservation as well as fertility treatment for IVF are limited despite MRKH being a absolute uterine factor infertility condition and one we have since birth (although typically diagnosed as teens). We hope this research, along with our continued quest for equal fertility treatment for all under @fightforsurrogacy, the fertility access improvements being lobbied for in government and all the hard work from individuals and organisations supporting this cause, finally sees some change and we thank those 7 ICBs (out of 42) who do support MRKH patients with fertility, we hope others do the same and that we finally see some consistency across the UK in fertility support for everyone who needs it. 🤍 #mrkh #infertility #support #mrkhawareness #hope #journey #mrkheducation #empowerment #health #education #research #mrkhawareness #mrkhwarrior #support #community #peersupport #1in5000 #mrkhsyndrome #mrkheducation #mrkhempowerment #womenshealth #mentalhealth #strongertogether
