The #mrkh5000in50 challenge isn't quite over yet...our final participants Abbie and Frankie are taking on the West Highland Way (96 miles / 154 km) over 4 days and their challenge starts TODAY! With a close link to MRKH through our trustee Anna, they have decided to raise vital funds for MRKH Connect and we couldn't be more grateful 💜 We wish them well on their challenge and hope to share more updates as their challenge continues. As we reflect on another Connect LIVE event we wan As we reflect on another Connect LIVE event we want to share a massive THANK YOU from (almost) all of us to you. Whether you were there in person, online, or in spirit this community means the world to us and we wouldn't be here without you. We were honoured to have incredible speakers from our community, our supporters and beyond and will share more about the event and the wonderful stories shared in due course. It was certainly a day of information, inspiration and connection. But it was also an incredibly personal reflection for many of our speakers which was not only touching but relatable and for many reaffirming. Participants from 6 countries across the world coming together to raise awareness promote their physical and mental health and importantly do something for them. The total is still rising but we have collectively raised over £3500 which is an amazing amount for us as a small charity and we want to thank everyone who has participated, liked, shared and importantly cheered us on. It's meant the world to each and every one of us and we are so grateful for your support. We spend a lot of time talking about advocacy and We spend a lot of time talking about advocacy and sharing, but advocacy is more than being public and can be just as powerful, arguably more so. Advocacy is about one or all of the below: 🌟 finding a comfort in how we may talk about our diagnosis for ourselves and our close people 🌟 knowing we have a choice on what and how to share or not to share at all 🌟 feeling empowered to share our experiences more widely No requirement to do all, no requirement to do any, but during this year's #mrkh5000in50, participants have chosen to advocate for themselves by participating their way and/or supporting their person. An important reminder that shouting loud is powerful, but stepping up to do something for you, or a cause important for you, is EMPOWERING So much of what we do is connection, information ans support and a lot of that is incredibly personal and private. Advocacy is an option, not a requirement, and we celebrate the wins (big or small) that share the word and raise awareness. ✨️New Research Opportunity✨️ A research team at T ✨️New Research Opportunity✨️ A research team at Texas Children’s Hospital - Baylor College of Medicine led by Dr. Niccolo Passoni are conducting a study focused on understanding the lived experiences, psychosocial needs, and support preferences of individuals with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome.
