mrkhconnect

MRKH Connect is a charity with a mission to connect those with MRKH all over the world. No one should feel alone, we are 1 in 5000 #mrkhempowerment ❤️

Imagine being faced with infertility as a teenager Imagine being faced with infertility as a teenager. This is the reality for most diagnosed with MRKH where a diagnosis often comes between age 15-17.

As we kick off NFAW and think about #FertilityPathways we wanted to take it back to basics, back to that initial diagnosis, whenever that was.

That change in perspective when we are hit with something so unexpected that changes the way we think about not only our future but also ourselves and what fertility, and womanhood in this case, means for us.

A big thank you to Mollie, for sharing her #FertilityUnfiltered experience of how an MRKH diagnosis has affected her and the challenges with navigating this in the early years.

🩷🧡

If you are reading this and think, I also have MRKH and this is exactly how I feel/have felt, then please know we are here. We are here for the bad as much as the good and provide peer support for MRKH Syndrome whatever age and whatever stage of your journey.

You are not alone

What would ‘little’ you want ‘now’ you to know? What would ‘little’ you want ‘now’ you to know?

You’d give ‘little’ you so much love, so make sure you remember they’re the same person. 💜

✨️DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO SHARE✨️ As we prepare fo ✨️DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO SHARE✨️

As we prepare for this year's National Fertility Awareness Week (NFAW) starting 2nd Nov we want to shine a light on our community and most importantly the real people and real experiences that MRKH affects.

So we want to hear from YOU.

This year's theme is #FertilityUnfiltered because these conversations are tough and we all know the reality is infertility is HARD and knowing there are others going through those same or similar experiences can really make a big difference.

our experiences may help others not feel so alone.

If you are interested to share your MRKH story on any of the following topics for NFAW then drop us a 💜 below and we will send more details. Our aim will be to then share these experiences during NFAW.
✨️ Your MRKH experience
✨️ What fertility means for you
✨️ Your path to parenthood, or childlessness
✨️ Fertility experiences at work
✨️ The impact of an MRKH diagnosis

Absolutely no pressure to participate and importantly submissions can also be anonymous.

These are hard hitting topics, but NFAW is all about shouting louder for recognition and understanding that fertility as a whole topic needs more awareness and acknowledgment both at a medical and also governmental level.

Let's be part of the movement towards change, together 💜

A lil message from @ally__hensley 💜 Design your d A lil message from @ally__hensley 💜

Design your disclosure script: “But how do I tell them I was born without …?” ❤️

(Ps. I’ve never posted so many slides, so you have a book within a book… but I’d still really love for you to buy my actual book).

In the MRKH community, disclosures of this nature are a BIG topic: How to tell a person you are dating that you are unable to carry biological children.

Not only that, but with the MRKH disclosure, whether they Google you or you reveal it first, the “vagina part” will be discovered. It’s hard to explain to young women the perfect scenario or perfect script, because it’s different for everyone. And I would often consider several factors to assess if this is the right time and person to disclose to right now. This is where a self-inventory regarding a diagnosis is so very important!

✨ Do I trust them with a precious part of my story?
✨ Why am I disclosing now?
✨ Do I feel emotionally safe right now?
✨ What’s the purpose behind the disclosure?
✨ Will it change the outcome of the situation right now?
✨ Is my mental health stable today?
✨ Am I prepared for the questions or reactions?

A mini self-assessment is key in these situations. As weird as it is, I have nailed my ‘script’. I have edited, tweaked and rehearsed my script for years behind closed doors, so that when the words fall from my mouth, I’m not hearing them for the first time either.

How to write your script?

Practice makes permanent: Practise in the mirror, with a friend, saying it aloud, writing it down, and eventually, with those you trust. I’ve never, once, had a reaction other than one met with compassion, love, understanding, and adoration for being so bloody brave!

Important reminder:
If we cannot comprehend our diagnosis; after weeks, months, and even years, we owe grace for their processing time. Let’s not criticise their response, when they’ve only had 60 seconds to nail it.

We needed time.
They do, too.

A disclosure script can be tailored to any aspect of our lives.

Do you have a script of your own?
I’d love to read them in the comments below.

We are born intimate beings and we die intimate be We are born intimate beings and we die intimate beings, MRKH does not change that but my word can it have a big impact on how we feel about intimacy.

MRKH can make us feel insecure about our bodies and make it feel like there is a barrier to finding pleasure in the same way we imagine others do without MRKH.

This is so much more than a conversation about s3x. Because intimacy isn't just s3x, it's about finding comfort with our bodies in general, finding comfort with others too whether that be a simple touch of the hand, a hug to finding what gives us pleasure.

There is so much to learn about ourselves and so much joy to be found.

Did you know you can ask a question anonymously to MRKH Connect via our MRKH and Intimacy page? Your questions are answered by MRKH peers, a clinical sexologist and shared with medical professionals for accuracy before posting.

No judgement just a safe space to ask those more difficult questions, if you need.
