The first week of November is National Fertility Awareness Week (NFAW) or simply Fertility Week. This week usually includes a number of in person events and shows but of course this year it looks a little different. That being said there is a wide range of webinars, online chats and virtual seminars available throughout the week and across a range of themes.
Each day will have a different theme and will cover the following topics:
- Fertility Inequalities
- Mental Health Matters
- Men Matter
- Fertility in the Workplace
Fertility awareness and driving change is not just about wanting to or considering a future with children. It is about raising awareness, educating others and reducing inequalities surrounding infertility challenges.
This is not a taboo topic but a critical area of discussion when at least 1 in 8 couples struggle with fertility challenges.
1 in 5000 have MRKH, which is only one of many fertility conditions and we are proud to have been able to support some submissions from the MRKH community to the wider Fertility Network’s Fertility Week cause – keep an eye out for those fantastic submissions during the week!
The impact of such conditions on mental health, experience at work and even at a social level can be significant. We believe it is extremely important to improve the services offered to all and promote better care and support. Regardless of the route we choose in life we should feel supported, equal and not sidelined. We should not have to suffer in silence or be ashamed about what we are going through. You are not alone.
