Reproduction and Parenthood Journeys of People with Variations of Sex Characteristics

A new participation and call for participants shared by MRKH Connect with the permission of the researchers.Β
We are calling for participants born with MRKH or Uterine Factor Infertility (UFI), who are parents, and/or on their journey to become parents, to take part in our international study (Israel, Italy, Germany and the UK) by sharing their experiences and telling their stories. We would like to interview people on the wide range of journeys to parenthood, with a focus on uterus transplantation (UTx).
In the first phase of the project we would like to interview people with MRKH who are interestedΒ in accessing the new experimental pathways of UTx. In the following phase we intend toΒ interview those who have become (want to become) parents through otherΒ means.Β We would like to learn more about your experiences regarding becoming a parent. We are alsoΒ inviting partners and uterus donors to participate and share their perspectives and experiences.
Your participation will include 1-2 hourΒ interviews (face-to-face or remote). Participants can receive nominal compensation for their time. We appreciate your cooperation, time, energy and important contribution to this research project.
The aim of the study is to gain a deeper understanding of the issues and complexities involved in the journeyΒ of becoming a parent. We intend to investigate technologies, practices and experiences by adopting aΒ sociocultural perspective, exploring the medical and social dynamics surrounding uterine transplantationΒ (UTx), surrogacy, adoption and other assisted reproductive technology (ART).Β In the first phase of the project we would like to interview people with MRKH who are interested in
accessing the new experimental pathways of UTx. In the following phase we intend to interview those whoΒ have become (want to become) parents through other means.
The study is an international collaboration being conducted by Medical Sociologist Dr. Limor MeodedΒ Danon (PI) Bar-Ilan University, Head of the Centre for Rare Female Genital Malformations Prof. Dr.Β Katharina Rall University of TΓΌbingen,Β Medical Anthropologist Dr. Daniela Crocetti, Research Fellow atΒ Bar-Ilan University and Social Anthropologist Dr. Marcy Brink, Research Fellow at Bar-Ilan University.Β The research project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee at Bar-Ilan University.

Whilst this research is not sponsored by MRKH Connect, it is supported by us as we see value in sharing new research opportunities, like this, which further our knowledge and support the community with the aim to improve awareness and level of care and support for anyone on different reproductive journeys.
